Pick sheltered water with steady salinity, clear water and a sandy bottom. Check the map before you invest in poles and rope.
- Salinity between 28 and 34 ppt through the season
- Water temperature between 24 and 28 °C
- pH 7.5 to 8.5 and dissolved oxygen 4 to 6 mg/L
- Low wave energy and no direct river or drain outflow
- Check the GIS map for protected and restricted water
